Could you be more persuasive on Zoom?

An easy way to improve your effectiveness and persuasiveness is to improve the quality of your online video chat image, whether it’s by Zoom, GoTo Meetings or Microsoft Teams.

Most salespeople have put little effort or attention into figuring out how to look better (and more persuasive) on video even though significant improvements can be achieved without needing to spend any money.

The first and most important idea is to have your camera at eye level. Too many people look down into the camera built into their laptop sitting on a desk. With the camera so low they have to lean forward distorting their image and making their head look really large.

Make sure you have even lighting on your face and the area behind you. These small cameras don’t handle contrasting colors well so have as little variations in your lighting (no open window shining in) or in your clothing.

You’ll look more professional if you have eye contact with your camera. Don’t look at the person’s image on your screen that you’re talking to. Look into the camera so they see your eye contact…it’ll make you look more persuasive.

Make sure your image is centered and fills up the screen. Having lots of space above your head makes you look small and ineffective.

We’re going to have video conferencing as part of our lives and as part of our selling efforts from now on. Join me on today’s video as I share ideas to help your team look more professional, and more persuasive online…so you can sell even more!
