As the leader of your sales team, it’s your responsibility to make sure your entire team has all the persuasive and messaging skills they need to be effective. The reality today is that your inside customer support people, whether it’s handling customers directly by telephone or offering support to your outside reps, spend more time actually talking and interacting with your customers than your outside reps do.
Customers today also have higher expectations of your support and your people who handle their calls. I’m sure you’ve trained them on the technical aspects of your products and services. And I’m sure they know how to enter orders and handle the administrative side of your business. But what about the persuasive side?
Your inside people need to be trained to understand how they can ask questions. How they might identify opportunities and how they might identify different customer solutions to offer. Just like your outside reps, you also need your inside people to be more proactive and persuasive.
